I’m going to start this off by saying that since the first moment I heard the single “The American Nightmare” I was highly anticipating this album. I mean seriously, what can go wrong when every single song is based upon a horror/thriller movie?
“The American Nightmare” is based upon the Nightmare On Elm Street series. The catchy chorus and heavy riffs catch you ear rather quickly.
“Thank God It’s Friday” based upon the Friday the 13th series. It’s very similar to “The American Nightmare” where it’s heavy with a very catchy chorus.
“Stabbing In The Dark” is based upon the movie series Halloween. This song really shows of singer Spencer Charnas’ vocal range. When he gets as deep as he does during the chorus he sounds like he could be a choir singer.
“It Is The End” Based upon the movie It. It sounds like it would come strait out of a circus. The brass section with given to us by Less Than Jake. It’s another song that shows off the bands range as musicians. It shows that they don’t just settle for what they are comfortable with.
If you are looking for a power ballad, every album has one, for INK it’s “A Grave Mistake”. This one is based on The Crow. It’s another song that you can’t help but just stand up and scream the lyrics along to.
The musical range on this album is amazing. Ice Nine Kills really hit it out of the park with this album. It came out a month ago and I’ve listened to it almost everyday since.
Overall grade: 8/10
